Whilst doing work experience at DLA Piper last summer I had the fantastic opportunity of attending a presentation by the Managing Director of MDAC and saw the cage bed reporting and other fundamental abuses of human rights of the beneficiaries of the organisation. It is following on from that presentation that I have decided to apply to contribute my time to the strategic litigation department of MDAC; within the first three weeks we had to deliver a presentation on legal capacity, which contributed to a debate on contentious issues surrounding alternatives to guardianship. My other substantial tasks included research on article 6 which included reviewing the jurisprudence of CEDAW and MDAC’s shadow reports and best practices surrounding political participation and the right to marry.  So far I really enjoyed the large amount of responsibility, the opportunity to actively participate in staff meetings and how international and wide ranging my work has been. The location of the office, in stunning Budapest just by the Szent Istvan Bazilika also ensures our lunch time breaks and the whole Budapest experience are a great ending to my three year law degree!
