22 March 2012. Earlier this week, the Mental Disability Advocacy Center held a two-day training event on legal capacity and supported decision-making in Sofia, Bulgaria, for the members of the newly established task force on Bulgarian legal capacity law reform.
9 March 2012, Budapest. International Women’s Day falls on 8 March each year. The world celebrates the contributions of women and the struggle for equal rights. This recognition quickly dissipates… today is just another day for many women whose bodies are objectified, behaviours controlled and autonomy ignored.

7 March 2012, Geneva and Budapest. The Mental Disability Advocacy Center welcomes the statement by Professor Juan Mendez, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, that there should be a worldwide ban of solitary confinement of people with psycho-social or intellectual disabilities in all places of detention, including psychiatric and social care institutions.
Throughout the year, MDAC welcomes interns to contribute to its research and monitoring programme. The work is likely to entail:
